For a lot of SEO experts working in internet marketing circles, niche marketing is an old concept. People have already been generating cash from highly topic focused mini sites. Like all other online concepts though, this form of marketing hasn’t remained static. New discoveries and realizations have moved some marketers to make interesting innovations to it.

In the past, this field used to be less complicated. The basic idea behind it was to look for underachieving market areas. These venues for making cash were around but often had low marketer competition because they had obscure topics. Clever marketers would pick these lesser known areas, research on the level of customer presence or need and then make or find e-books to sell in relation to them. In most cases, those who used this niche internet marketing model settled on a wide array of topics. They could have close to a hundred or even more mini sites, each with specific products to sell. Spreading wide was necessary in order to earn more.

The new form of niche marketing isn’t too keen on spreading wide over several topics. Marketers and SEO specialists can now opt to
focus on fewer themes. This is good news because having fewer sites to maintain means marketing and promotion is much easier to perform. There are some marketers though who aren’t sure that they can make a living out of limited themes especially since obscure topics don’t have loads of interested customers. What then is the secret to making money out of focused niche markets? The answer isn’t as complicated as it seems. The one step that you need to take is to dig deep into your niche.

Discovering the deeper layers of your niche doesn’t necessarily imply that you need to have bigger sites. What going deeper means is that you should look for a variety of other related products to sell to your existing customers. Depending on the topic that you pick, buyers may be quite eager to purchase more related information based merchandise. With more buyers from the same client pool, you get to earn a lot even if you only have a couple of sites up.

The new concept of niche marketing requires greater effort on your part. At the onset, you have to research more on available markets before you set up sites. Aside from checking customer demand for a particular topic, you also need to look into niche depth. Good but shallow topics allow little room for you to move because you can only really sell people a limited number of products. E-books on such topics as heartburn for example aren’t very lucrative because you can’t sell a customer anything else once he has discovered how to deal with heartburn. A niche with a wider reach is a far better option because you can create a number of different related products.

People still actually make money out of the old niche internet marketing model. If you want to improve the way you manage your sites and the manner in which you generate income, you should explore the new approach to it. You might find this a far better way of doing things.
